On July 16, 2010 Sharri Kimberley, a 48 year old wife and mother of five children, was told she had cancer. After several scans and other tests it was confirmed on July 20, 2010 by two physicians that she had stage IV colon cancer that had aggressively spread to her liver. Sharri remembers little of what the oncologist said that day other than this….

“Ignorance is not bliss. These are the facts, you have Stage IV Colon cancer, and your liver is covered in tumours’. There is no cure. Average lifespan is 2 ½ years”.

She responded the only way she knew how, with determination…

“Well, a lot can happen in the medical field in 2 ½ years”.

Family and friends are hosting a benefit to contend to with mounting medical and household bills.

We are asking for your help to make this benefit a success! A donation of a gift basket, gift certificate, service, or a silent auction item would be greatly appreciated. Financial donations are gratefully accepted and can be deposited at any RBC Bank location. Tickets are $20 prior to event, ($25 at the door )& cover your food drink for the day. They can be purchased by contacting Amanda Camacho at 716-903-7379, or email amandacamacho24@yahoo.com.

Sharri is currently undergoing an aggressive treatment plan of chemotherapy at a cancer treatment center as well as at home, in hopes to control the spreading of the cancer.

Sharri has lived and worked in Brevard County for close to ten years. She is now unable to work due to her condition. Sharri’s mother and step father have moved in to her home to aid in her day to day care, as her husband Bob tries to work around her treatment schedule. The love and support she gets from her friends and family, including 5 children; Katelyn, Johanna, Kyle, Jesse, Kole, keep her spirits high. Sharri has been an active member in the community and has helped many people in need. Now is the time to return her generosity and helpfulness!

Volunteer and Donate!!!

There are two primary ways that you can help: be a volunteer and/or donate.

If you are available to help on the day of the benefit (Saturday, November 20th) volunteering your time to assist in managing one of many areas would be greatly appreciated.  It is not required that you are present throughout the entire event.  Your help will be happily accepted during a block of time that is convenient for you.  A financial donation can be made through PayPal (see the Donate button on right), at any RBC Bank Branch (write checks to Sharri Kimberley Cancer Fund ) or in person at the Benefit event.  Also, we are accepting any items for donation which could be used in an auction, raffle or basket (see below for fun basket ideas!!!).  Gift certificates and gift cards are also appreciated.

To volunteer, please contact Linda Hearn at 321-750-3331 or lindahearn9@yahoo.com

Ideas for Basket Donations
Some suggestions for the Chinese Theme Basket Auction
(overall value of each basket should be minimum of $50)

Sports items: A variety of sports items or one specific sport or team (Baseball cap, hockey puck, football, t-shirt, mug, pen) &; if you want to make an awesome basket add a pair of tickets to a game

Great Outdoors: Camping items such as utensils, first aid kit, compass, Swiss Army knife & if you want to increase the value include a sleeping bag, tent, or gift certificate from a sporting goods store

Garden: Seeds, gardening gloves, tools (trowel spade, etc), gardening book

Pamper Mani/Pedi: Foot scrubbers, pumice, toe separators, foot soak, soft socks, foot lotion, pretty polish, maybe the "basket" is a fancy footbath!

Picnic Basket: Paper or melamine plates, cutlery and glasses, napkins, tablecloth, disposable grill, ketchup, mustard, salt and pepper, all in a basket or Styrofoam cooler

BBQ: Barbeque sauces, barbeque utensils or specialty items such as fish grill grate

Ice Cream Sundae: Sundae dishes, ice cream scoop, ice cream sauces, a jar of Marichino cherries, nuts to sprinkle on top, and a gift certificate to Redberry Frozen Yogurt or Cold Stone Creamery (as examples)

Coffee Lover: Gourmet coffees, biscotti and other coffee-related sweets, a cute coffee mug & maybe even a small cup coffee press

Kiddos: A stuffed animal (or whatever the doll is popular), coloring books, crayons, a Disney DVD, hair bows

A Night Out: Two tickets for a movie and a gift certificate to a restaurant

Movie Mania: Netflix gift subscription and box of microwave popcorn

A basket is not a requirement, any container in which items will fit works fine (& if the item does not need a container because it contains itself, that's fine too!)

We can use smaller, individual items as well: t-shirts, baseball caps, baked goods (pie, cake,) bottle of wine, (age requirement), a child's toy, pet food, anything!

More costly items will be either at a special table with tickets of a higher cost, or will be auction or raffled separately

All donations are greatly appreciated!
